Solar Torches

We are using too much energy in our current society and developing nations like Tanzania are starting to consume more energy as well. We are trying to change something and work with rural farmers and give them incentives to use solar lamps instead of the wide spread but dangerous and unhealthy kerosene lamps.

Therefore we are offering a special type of microcredit - the farmers are getting the solar lamps in advance and pay it off, exclusively with the money saved on kerosene. Therefore they do not have high start up costs and after they have paid of the lamp they will start to save the money usually spent on kerosene.

The solar project has significantly enhanced the lives of many on different ways:

• Children, they are able to read and study in the evening hours.
• No open fire in the house – no threat to the children.
• Farmer's are protected against the inhalation of smoke.
• The selling of Solar lamps is creating new jobs.
